What We Do
Full-Service Landscaping & Hardscaping in Lake Monticello, VA
Lake Monticello is different from anywhere else we work — a gated, HOA-governed community built around a private lake, with a mix of retirees and families and a genuine sense of neighborhood. It's also our only regular service area in Fluvanna County rather than Albemarle, about 20 minutes southeast of Charlottesville.
Lots here tend to be tighter than the estate properties elsewhere in our service area, and many back up to the lake itself, which means grading and drainage decisions matter even more — runoff has somewhere real to go. We design with the HOA's standards and the lake in mind on every Lake Monticello project.

Local Know-How
Landscaping in Lake Monticello, VA: What Local Properties Need
Lake Monticello is a private, gated community in northwestern Fluvanna County, about 14 miles from Charlottesville by Route 53. It was developed in the 1960s around a man-made lake on a tributary of the Rivanna River, first as a summer vacation community, and it has grown into a year-round home for more than 10,000 residents across roughly 4,400 homes. Lots here are compact compared with country properties in Albemarle, many slope toward the water, and the community's owners' association has its own guidelines for exterior work.
Lake Monticello lots are compact and often slope toward the water, so landscaping there has to look good and hold the soil in place. We design beds and plantings that stabilize banks, handle shade from the community's tree canopy and stay within the owners' association's exterior guidelines. The result is a yard that suits the lake setting.
How Lake Monticello residents find us
Inside a gated community, most of our Lake Monticello work comes from neighbors recommending us to each other after seeing a finished yard on the same street.
What Lake Monticello owners ask first
The first question is almost always about the owners' association: what needs approval, and whether we can work within the community's exterior guidelines. We plan for both.
Why Lake Monticello clients choose Green Thumb
Sloped lots that drain toward the water need careful work, and residents value a crew that understands runoff and keeps soil and debris out of the lake.
